摘要
In order to quantify the allocation of rare earth elements and yttrium(REY)in different minerals in the REY-rich sediments of the Central Indian Ocean Basin(CIOB),three collected sediment cores(GC04,and GC11 from CIOB;GC03 from east of the Ninety East Ridge)were sampled for mineral identification, elements (major, trace, and rare earth elements)measurements in the bulk sediment and part of elements analysis in individual minerals. The results show that the core sediments of GC04 and GC11 are enriched in REY,and the distribution pattern of REY and the upper mineral composition are typical REY-rich sediments differing from GC03 sediments. The quantitative calculation shows that apatite,titanite,clinoptilolite-K and osumilite aggregates contribute most of REY in the core sediments. It is concluded that the REY enrichments in GC04 and GC11 sediments from the CIOB are mainly related to biological apatite, and are obviously influenced by volcano-genic materials. GC03,located at east of the Ninety East Ridge, and more affected by terrigenous materials, which dilute the content of REY in the sediments. © 2023 Chinese Society of Rare Earths. All rights reserved.
