An increasing number of pharmaceutical companies are obtaining custom pressure-sensitive adhesive systems for their transdermal drug delivery (TDD) products by working with specialty adhesives manufacturers to carry out research and development, testing, materials qualification, manufacturing, quality, and other product development tasks. This article describes the aspects of a successful partnership between an adhesive manufacturer and a pharmaceutical company and reviews the current technologies of transdermal patches, adhesive properties, and specialized components.
