Set of experiments have been conducted on three pool diameters with three different fuels in the Fire Research Laboratory of IIT Roorkee to define the behavior of fire above pools. Work includes experimental and computational investigations of the flame burning characteristics of diesel, kerosene, and petrol pool fires with medium-sized pool fires (0.2 to 0.4 m). Experimental results were compared with the model predictions by the CFD Simulations. Temperatures and Velocities were measured along the center line of the flame. CFD predicted flame temperature and velocity are in good agreement with the experimental data. © 2012, Baywood Publishing Co., Inc.
