Development of high-strength bimetallic copper-stainless steel materials

Bimetallic wire of Cu-stainless steel is promising material in coils of pulsed magnets with maximum magnetic fields. The possible service parameters of such conductors are analyzed. The long-dimensional (140-300 m) experimental wires of Cu-12Kh18N10T steel with nominal section of 5.2×7.2 mm are manufactured. The wires are characterized by electric conductivity on the level of 60% to Cu electric conductivity. The optimal materials for wire outer shell are chosen.
