Numerical analysis and structure optimization of solid-liquid two-phase flow centrifugal pump in large capacity power station

Solid-liquid two-phase flow centrifugal pumps are widely applied in large capacity power stations of 300 or 600 MW, and the particularity of the medium stired by the pumps induces several problems in operation, such as severe wear and low efficiency. The main factors influencing the performance of solid-liquid two-phase flow centrifugal pumps consist of geometric structure and medium characteristics. The influence of geometric structure was concretely analyzed, such as the area of volute throat, number of blades and blade wrap angle. On this basis, an optimizing design was made for an existing pump, and then the flow field inside the pump after optimization was simulated on the basis of reasonable model and control equation by software Fluent. Meanwhile, the optimization effect was verified. The result shows that the pump after optimizing design achieves the rated output, and its efficiency improves remarkably.
