摘要
POY global production reached 8 million tonnes annually in 2001 according to this article. Price is suppressed at the moment due to worldwide overcapacity from investment in the 1990s. Efficiency has thus become a very important consideration for manufacturers involved in POY spinning. The two new technologies referred to are an aerodynamic method of increasing wind-up speeds and the use of additive technology to boost wind-up speed. The aerodynamic method is a new POY process called Evospeed (evolution in speed) that has been developed in cooperation with a UK technology partner. New winding speeds achieved are quoted at 4500-5000m/minute. The additive technology is described and promises POY winding speeds of up to 6000 m/minute.
