Traveling wave type rotary ultrasonic motors (TRUM) as a new type motor, has a wide range of applications. In this paper, a device for the mechanical characteristics of ultrasonic motor was developed. The hardware of device consists of a magnetic powder brake, dynamic torque sensor, data acquisition board and computer. Magnetic powder brake load imposed on the motor. The dynamic torque sensor collected output torque and speed of ultrasonic motor. Software of device is Labview. Trigger, gate and shift registers were used for signal processing in Labview. On front panel, the mechanical characteristics of ultrasonic motor were displayed on waveform graph. The mechanical characteristics of different types of ultrasonic motor can be measured by modifying the program.
