The implementation of the E-commerce Directive in Germany was discussed. The German Department of Trade and Industry has issued a first Draft for the implementation of the E-commerce Directive, dated 8 June 2000. The Draft called Electronic Commerce Act mainly provides for changes and amendments to the German Teleservice Act from 1997. Since the Teleservices Act was the firt law of its kind in Europe to set up a legal framework for electronic commerce, it partly served as a model for the Directive.
