Design and application of a real-time image recognition system by using digital signal processing

A real-time image processing system is designed by using TMS320C6205 as processor. Image sampling and storing are carried out by SAA7111 and FPGA without intervention of digital signal processing. Image transmission and DSP recognition are simultaneously carried out through DMA. The reliability and safety of the system are improved through integration of the functions of triggering, sampling, storing and recognizing in a PCI card. Compared with the image recognition system based on sampling card and PC machine, the system can improve the recognition speed by about 28.7% on the premise of maintaining the same image recognition accuracy.
