摘要
The US DOE's Review Panel (RP) reviews the proposal for a project with the objective of building a bent-crystal X-ray spectrometer capable of detecting Pu-specific radiation and measuring Pu in irradiated spent fuel assemblies in cooling ponds. When completed, the spectrometer could be used to determine the Pu content of spent fuel and provide an analytical basis for characterization of the material that will be eventually disposed. Assessment of the proposal leads to the recommendation that the submission be considered for support.
