Spectra characteristics of Er3+ doped NaY(WO4)2 crystal

Absorption spectra, emission spectra and excitation spectra of Er3+ doped NaY(WO4)2 crystal have been measured at room temperature. Such parameters as the intensity parameters, oscillation strength, rate of spontaneous emission, lifetime and integrated emission cross - section have been calculated according to J-O theory and absorption spectra. Upconversion luminescence of the crystal was measured and strong green light was observed, two-photon process for green and red upconversion lights and three-photon process for violet light were studied. From the measured spectra, the mechanism of transitions has been analyzed in detail and the cross relaxation 4G9/2 + 4I11/2 ->2 H11/2 + 4S3/2 and 4G11/2 + 4I9/2 -> 2H11/2 + 2H11/2 (or 4S3/2) were put forward.
