In Austria, a comparison of figures of 1998 and 1999 shows that the separation between energy consumption and economic production continues. Further, district heat consumption is forecasted to grow by 30% in the next decade. To foster this growth, requirements for the complete opening of the Austrian electricity market by 1st October 2001 have been created.
