The Al-Sr commercial master alloys are used to improve a structure and properties of cast Al-Si alloys. The oxidation kinetics of liquid Al-Sr alloys is studied for alloys with 3.2, 20.0, 33.3, and 60.0% Sr. Monophase alloy Al4Sr with melting temperature of 1313 K is chosen as the model one to investigate an effect of alloying elements on properties of Al-Sr master alloys. The effect of Si, Mg, Ti and rare earth metals on oxidation rate is investigated at 1373 K. The oxidation products are analyzed by the IR-spectroscopic method. A stability of ternary master alloys in the presence of oxygen and water is estimated.
