摘要
Epoxies are the the high-performance adhesives, which are produced by epoxidizing phenolic resins also called the first synthetic polymers derived from nature. The epoxide ring reacts with and joins acids or bases, thus offering a wide range of curing possibilities. The performance of most epoxies is influenced by the included chain of phenolic rings, which projects high internal strength and chain stiffness, along with temperature, chemical, and electrical resistance. The epoxies are a favorite for structural bonding in many industries due to their quality to bond with a wide variety of substrates and inherent strength. The composites, honeycomb structures, and many metals are bonded with epoxy pastes or films for aerospace applications. Automotive industry also employs epoxies along with acrylics and urethanes to bond metals and composites. Epoxies are also used for medical and electronics applications, which include potting, encapsulating, and structural bonding.
