Cylinder experiments and JWL EOS of detonation product for ECX

Two kinds of extrusion-cast explosive (ECX) with the main explosive HMX were designed. Cylinder expansion experiments of explosives with diameter 25 mm and 50 mm were used to identify the power of ECX with energetic and inert plasticizer. By using nonlinear FEM hydrodynamic program DYNA/2D , the numerical simulations for cylinder experiments were proceeded. According to the results, parameters of JWL equation of state (EOS) for ECX were calculated and corrected. Results show that the power for ECX with energetic plasticizer is much higher than that with inert plasticizer.
