Low-temperature radiative embrittlement and degradation of deformation ability of austenitic steels and alloys

An influence of dose of the neutron irradiation on changing in plastic properties of austenitic Cr-Ni steel (Kh18N10BTa) over the temperature range of 20-750°C is considered. The minimum values of relative elongation of irradiated metal are revealed in the 200-400° range after irradiation in same range. Neutron irradiation decreases a coefficient of strain hardening, uniform and general elongation of austenitic steels. A character of lowering in the strength characteristics of metals is dictated by their deformation capability after irradiation.
