Universal multilevel control strategy based extended two-level space vector modulation

Universal multilevel strategy to converters with different levels and/or phases was researched by selecting the voltage level as research object. A novel universal multilevel scheme, extended two-level space vector modulation (ETSVM) was proposed. Some key problems such as discreteness of the voltage level, decomposition of integral and fractional parts of the reference voltage level, two-level analysis, switch groups on one bridge, and so on were discussed in the new ETSVM scheme. The complexity of this scheme is nearly same despite of various levels and/or phases. Simulation of a 3-phase 5-level model in Matlab exhibited the feasibility and simplicity of ETSVM.
