RF telemetry can be implemented by a heavy duty-cycling of the radio to control power consumption with the use of ultra-low-power RF technology. Short-range wireless communication applications, medical telemetry systems, and RF transceiver products need to support high data rates for minimum power consumption. Ultra-low power performance for RF telemetry can be achieved with the selection of right design of transceiver IC and networks. The designer need to consider the baseline current consumption without the load-dependent power amplifier (PA) current. The factors that need to be considered to achieve Ultra-low power performance are carrier frequency, frequency range, modulation scheme, full tolerance, settling times, and programmability. The reduction of power consumption can be achieved with low supply voltage at the system level.
