摘要
Landmine Monitor, an international reporting agency associated with the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, reported that Afghanistan alone recorded an average of 88 casualties per month in 2000 because of landmines or unexploded ordinances (UXO). The landmine problem is complex and unlikely to be soon or easily solved. As such, many projects are exploring the use of robotics and mechanized systems because it keeps human life a safe distance from the mines.
