Model predictive control was applied to chlorine dioxide generator of a Scandinavian pulp mill. Stabilization in the reaction condition was maintained and target chlorine product concentration was achieved by the system. The process response was described as function of adjustments to manipulate variables. For this, linear dynamic models were used by the model predictive control. The system comprised of Windows-based model identification tools, an on-line controller tools.
