Preparation and characterization of PFNR-based carbon membrane for microfiltration

摘要
The microporous carbon membranes with average pore size of 0.3-3.3 μm and the porosity of 40%-55% were prepared by pyrolysis of a commerically available phenol-formaldehyde novolac resin (PFNR). The effects of particle size of PFNR, molding pressure and additives on the characteristics of carbon membrane were investigated. The results indicate that the mean pore diameter, gas permeability and water flux of carbon membrane increase with the increase of particle size of PFNR and the decrease of molding pressure. Additives also affect the characteristics of carbon membrane. The carbon membrane can be used for dyeing wastewater treatment.
