Thermoelastic analysis of fluid saturated porous media

This paper proposes an analogy between poroelasticity and thermoelasticity on physical grounds. The analogy is used to reconstruct a thermoelastic formulation pertaining to heat flow in fluid saturated elastic porous media. This reformulation may provide a new concept in identifying the unique behavior of the combination of irreversible thermal dissipation and reversible volumetric elastic deformation in fluid saturated porous media. Laboratory experiments have provided further insight on the thermoelastic behavior of dry or saturated reservoir rocks.
