摘要
In recent years, virtual reality technology has been a hotspot of research and exploitation in computer science and other science fields. Its application is expanding very quickly. It provides opportunities for mechanical engineers to use virtual reality in their application. The paper firstly introduces the conception and character of virtual reality and discusses modeling methods in virtual environment, secondly introduces the advantage of geometry modeling with the 3D graphics developing tool - OpenGL, and finally builds the model of the common grinding machine with OpenGL and realizes the whole process of operating a real grinding machine in computer.
