摘要：

The increasing focus of the automotive industry on sheet moulding compounds (SMC) is discussed. SMC is described to be a versatile material that can comply with the very high Class A surface quality requirements specified by the automotive industry. However, it is sensitive in terms of consistent material behaviour due to the different parameters affecting the production and processing of SMC. The future possibilities for using process data logging as standard in the SMC compression moulding are also discussed.
