Quality of steel should be improved. This can be provided by means of utilization of metallurgical briquets as raw materials for steel production. The metallurgical briquets are lump materials consisting of filler, carbon, and the binding agents. The alloying component is utilized as the filler. Manganese, chromium, nickel, and other ores, dust-like wastes etc. can be applied as fillers. The briquets can be utilized as are materials for blast furnaces. High-quality cast iron produced in blast furnace is applied in the steelmaking units. Opportunities of organizing the production of the briquets have been considered. Joint work of metallurgical and refractory plants is provided.
