摘要：
The role of system stability and availability factored into the decision making process was discussed in correlation to control engineering. A report on reliability of open systems was presented to understand the sources, possibilities and consequences of unplanned downtime resultant from system failures. The viability of Linux as a open-source operating system for use in high availability control and automation systems was also discussed. Various issues including reliability of software and dynamic link libraries (DLL) were analyzed.
