Alcatel is transforming the way it approaches the telecommunications business in the era of Post-Bubble pragmatism. The harsh realities of the marketplace have changed the way customers are seeking to deploy new services and infrastructures. They have shifted the focus from build networks and customers will come to focus on the business value in deploying a new technology. The emphasis is on developing Customer Solutions that show the benefits in business terms of deploying Alcatel technology. Alcatel's whole of solution approach starts with understanding the customer's strategic and business drivers, then develops unique, compelling solutions that address all levels of our customer's management. Critical success factors for these customer solutions include a close alignment with our customers' strategic, business and marketing issues, the development of customized solutions, and the ability to offer the full breadth of technologies needed to build an optimum solution. A trusting relationship with the customer is not only essential to success, but is also the basis for a healthy ongoing business environment.
