Copolymers for nonlinear optics applications using azoic chromophore monomers

摘要
We present the synthesis of two azoic monomers, based on Methyl Red. The synthesis procedure is phase transfer catalyzed reaction, the phase transfer agent is a tetra-alchylammonium salt. These monomers have been copolymerized with styrene and the physical and chemical characteristics of the resulted copolymers are presented. The obtained polymeric materials have been spin coated on glass plates and poled using the Corona technique. Using the second harmonic generation, we determined high values of the second order nonlinear optical coefficients.
