UAVs provided Synergy Geomatics with the safest and most effective way to survey and map a 2,400- acre open-pit mine, and collect about a gallon of water from the bottom of the pit. The Phoenix, Arizona-based survey, mapping and inspection company took on these two tasks at the Sacaton Mine in Casa Grande, Arizona, which shut down in 1984.
