摘要
Road safety comparison between countries can be used to identify where there is potential for safety improvements. The main subject of this study includes the descriptive comparison between the Greece and Palestine (West Bank) in terms of road safety situation expressed by mortalities rates and factors of drivers involved in these accidents. Specifically, the difference of the number of traffic accidents was examined based on variety classifications of drivers in terms of gender and age categories based on authorised data during the period (2012–2017). The presented study is a part of a general comparative analysis of the road safety performance between the two countries in the framework of a PhD research. Most of the accidents data records collected from Hellenic Statistical Authority for Greece and from the Palestinian Traffic Police for Palestine. In addition to the stage of data analysis, which included descriptive analysis, statistical tests for each part separately and comparison between the two countries were presented. Countries’ differences in structure and culture not only have an impact on the size and nature of road safety problems but they are also influencing the possibilities to reduce the problem effectively and efficiently. © 2021 The Authors
