摘要
The fatigue behavior of X65 welded joints with cold metal transfer (CMT) backing process and gas metal arc welding (GMAW) backing process has been studied in comparison. The fatigue life of CMT-joints is improved by about 67% due to the combined effect of the low stress concentration in weld root and CMT-produced microstructure. Furthermore, the homogeneously distributed acicular ferrite and grain boundary ferrite arrested crack propagation and increased the fatigue propagation life of CMT-joints, but the necklace-type martensite/austenite constituents and lath bainite would reduce fatigue crack initiation and propagation life of GMAW-joints. © 2022 Elsevier Ltd
