Die Umweltbelastung durch Textilien ist hoch, wie die meisten Studien zeigen: Dies gilt sowohl für den Verbrauch natürlicher Ressourcen (insbesondere Wasser) als auch für die Menge an Textilabfällen (mit begrenzten Recyclingmöglichkeiten) und den Einsatz fos- siler Energie. Auch die Textilindustrie hat begriffen, dass der Schutz des Klimas eine der wichtigsten Herausforderungen und Aufgaben der Menschheit in unserer Zeit ist.
