Firstly; highly compact and b-oriented Silicalite-1 seeds layer was well organized on the porous α-Al2O3 substrate via the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique. Then; a continuous and defect free ZSM-5 membrane was synthesized using dimer-TPABr as structure direct agent to promote the b-oriented growth rate during the secondary growth procedure. According to the results of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD); the thickness of prepared ZSM-5 zeolite membranes is about 2 μm after crystallization at 175 ℃ for 48 h and the crystallographic preferred orientation (CPO) index is 0.862; which indicate that the prepared ZSM-5 membrane is highly b-oriented. The resulting membrane demonstrates reasonable CO2/H2 gas separation performance with a CO2 permeance of 5.96×10-7 mol/(m2•s•Pa) and the CO2/H2 gas separation factor of 7.37 under the osmotic pressure of 0.3 MPa at 25 ℃. Therefore; this research confirms that the LB technique can be used for preparation of highly oriented zeolite membrane on porous substrate for gas separation. © 2020; Editorial Office of Acta Petrolei Sinica(Petroleum Processing Section).
