摘要
Agricultural sector releases a lot of waste which is generally left unutilized, are becoming a threat to global health and food security. Due to promise applicability of agro-residues in various industries such as chemical, agricultural, food processing, and pharmaceuticals for the development of novel goods for mankind, the manufacture of these biomolecules has been intensively investigated in recent years. The present article has been focused on different types of agricultural wastes and their various industrial applications. This article also discussed about current status of development for agro-residues based different value-added applications (removal of heavy metal and dye, biofuel, single cell protein etc.). Future possibilities on developing more effective and efficient bioconversion technologies for converting agricultural leftovers into high-value goods are also discussed in this article. This article is significant to the biorefinery concept, which aims to convert agricultural waste into a variety of valuable products. © 2021 Elsevier Ltd
