SPEEK-based temperature-resistant catalyst for etherification and esterification reactions

摘要
Due to its sulfonic acid groups, sulfonated poly (ether ether) ketone (sPEEK) can be applied as a polymeric solidacid catalyst. SPEEK spheres were synthesized with an ion exchange capacity of 0.8 meq/g to 1.8 meq/g, and their activity and stability were tested. In converting methanol to dimethyl ether, sPEEK-25 has its highest activity at 170 degrees C. In the esterification of oleic acid and 1-decanol at 170 degrees C, sPEEK-49 showed the highest activity compared to all tested commercial catalysts. SPEEK-24 had the highest activity at 150 degrees C for synthesizing octyl levulinate, compared to AmberlystTM 36 and Lewatit (R) K2420. SPEEK remains stable during both reactions.
