摘要
We present the simulation, design, and experimental results of a straightforward method for irradiating solid ammonia (NH3) 3 ) and solid deuterated ammonia (ND3) 3 ) to optimize their use in dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) for scattering experiments. A prerequisite for DNP is a certain density of electron spins in the target material, provided by the concentration of F-centers generated by electron beam irradiation. We have developed an approach that efficiently irradiates large quantities of NH3 3 or ND3, 3 , producing approximately 25 grams of target material per hour. A key feature of the method is its near-homogeneous dose delivery, ensuring consistent quality across the entire batch. The production of optimized target material is crucial for polarized fixed target scattering experiments at accelerator facilities worldwide.
