摘要
This research aims to analyze the impact of the urban landscape on street crime, and therefore citizen security, in Mexico City's Alvaro Obregon district. We focus on the objective aspect of security using a quantitative methodology with four analytical dimensions: geospatial, sociodemographic, urban structure, and typology of the neighborhood. The results show that the heterogeneous manifestation of physical-environmental components and social and economic dynamics create socio-spatial patterns associated with an increase in street crime and a decrease in safety in public spaces. In conclusion, the holistic exploration of the four aspects of an urban landscape allows us to visualize particularities according to specific times and places, which in turn can be the basis for interweaving and sustaining situational prevention and environmental design by local government planners.
