摘要
The mangrove forest is the first barrier of containment of coastal erosion and in Cuba this forest is the largest. The objective of the research was to qualitatively and quantitatively evaluate the state of the vegetation of the mangrove forest fragment of Playa Bailen, using integrated geoprocessing techniques through the calculation of vegetation indices. A spatiotemporal study was carried out that contemplated the period 2017 to 2023, where three hydrometeorological events had an impact. To determine the current status, a Sentinel 2A satellite image from April 2024 was used. Different vegetation index analyses were carried out, such as: normalized differential vegetation index, soil adjusted vegetation index, chlorophyll index, which qualitatively yielded the quality of the area. The mangrove forest was classified by conservation status, defining them as: dense vegetation, moderate vegetation and scarce vegetation, calculating the hectares included.
