摘要
Within the framework of the training of early childhood edu-cators it is essential to promote spaces for reflection that allow us to know and understand the motivations and decisions of first-year students, to enter degree in Pedagogy in Early Childhood Education at the University of Chile. To address the objective, a qualitative case study was carried out through the development of a virtual forum that answered the question: why did I decide to study early childhood education? In the results, factors emerge such as personal and social assessment, the relevance of conceptions about Early Childhood Education and what is understood by childhood. It is concluded that this characterizes the construction of a professional identity in constant evolution, which begins prior to professional training, which is closely related to personal and social history, and which are important to consider in the professional career.
