摘要
This article aims to provide an overview of right-to-health litigation in the Vi & ccedil;osa jurisdiction, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The paper has a quantitative approach and is based on secondary data, collected through documentary research. Cases filed between 2017 and 2023 were examined according to characteristics related to the claimant, the legal representation, the service claimed, the governamental entities demanded, the financial value of the claim and the success percentage of the claims. The results showed that there is a predominance of women, elderly and residents in peripheral neighborhoods. The majority is represented by the Public Defender's Office, indicating that these people are subject to vulnerabilities. The availability of medicines was the most demanded, especially those not offered by Brazilian Public Health System (SUS). The Municipalities alongside the state of Minas Gerais were the most frequent targets. It was concluded that public health policies need improvement and there is a need to intensify the dialogue between SUS administrators and the agents of Brazilian judicial system for an adequate approach to right-to-health litigation.
