摘要
Fitness professionals have long advocated that resistance exercises be completed throughout a full range of motion. However, there is considerable evidence to suggest that performing exercises in this manner may not only be unwarranted but potentially dangerous. The primary objective of this article is to conduct a thorough review of existing literature related to "safe" exercise performance - predominantly concerning defining an "optimal" range of motion during resistance training for the shoulder. In addition, proper exercise technique guidelines will be provided for several exercises that impact the shoulder joint directly while minimizing the risk of training-related injuries. By reading this article, the reader will:center dot Explore biomechanical and structural/anatomical considerations for resistance training exercises.center dot Learn practical examples to avoid resistance-training-related injuries for the shoulder.center dot Know safe, optimal options for shoulder press, pulling, and abduction exercises.
