Author Response: Comparison of Hemispheric Surgery Techniques for Pediatric Drug-Resistant Epilepsy: An Individual Patient Data Meta-Analysis

We appreciate the interest in our individual-patient data meta-analysis from Ramantani et al. who highlight important considerations when interpreting our findings.1 Unlike the series of hemispherotomies of Ramantani et al. from 2000 to 2016, our study included patients treated before the 21st century, which may affect results, given advancements in neurosurgical care since then.2 Surgeon experience also affects outcomes to a degree we could not quantify, given the nature of our data. However, we attempted to control for varying time frames, experience, and practice patterns with mixed-effects modeling, which should have mitigated their influence.
