摘要
There is a need for corporations located in various municipalities of South Africa (SA) to play an active, socially responsible role in ensuring that human beings can realize their potential with dignity and equality within a healthy environment. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is increasingly intrinsic towards conventional business functions from research and development to marketing as part of creating jobs for the local communities. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are likewise urged to ensure that the lives of vulnerable communities are improved and transformed for the better and that economic, social, and technological progress occurs in these communities. SMEs are essential contributors to economic development in SA, the continent, and the world at large and are responsible for making a meaningful contribution to society. This study sought to investigate the perceptions regarding the CSR of SME owners in the eThekwini Municipality. Data collection from 210 SME owners or managers in the eThekwini Municipality revealed a significant relationship between community involvement, environmental awareness, and community upliftment in the quest to build long-term relationships within communities .
