The Powder Deposition Model on the Platform for Selective Laser Melting Modeling

The paper presents a model of generation of the powder bed which is a part of the modeling platform for the simulation of the additive manufacturing (AM) technologies to study physical mechanisms and oriented firstly on selective laser melting (SLM) process. In the paper, several variants of the model developed and adopted for the platform are reviewed, compared, and analyzed in terms of possibilities. Some simulation results are presented. The powder deposition results are transferred from the model to another part of the platform for simulation of the SLM process, and the simulation results are also presented. The novelty of the presented platform, which contains the powder deposition model, is the creation and modeling of one layer with several tracks of laser movements during the SLM, the possibility to design the complex technology, and its optimization.
