On 20 March, the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES)/Industry Applications Society (IAS)/Power Electronics Society (PELS) Dallas Joint Chapter hosted a talk that focused on hyper-scale datacenters at the Parrish-Hare Electrical Supply, Irving, TX, USA. The keynote speaker was Jonathan Wheelis, who is a consulting application engineer with Schneider Electric. His presentation focused on hyper-scale datacenters and provided valuable insights into the key features, power system architecture, and benefits of hyper-scale datacenters (Figure 1). This emphasized their critical role in the power and engineering industries. Additionally, he highlighted the scalability, efficiency, and reliability advantages of hyper-scale datacenters by discussing lessons from Schneider Electric's solutions for the entire powertrain design, which includes equipment from the medium voltage switchgear down to the PDU/PowerBus level.
