Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) as a diagnostic and therapeutic procedure carries the risk of pancreatitis, especially in high-risk patients. In the present study, two prevention strategies were evaluated: indomethacin plus prophylactic pancreatic stent and rectal indomethacin alone to potentially avoid stent placement, a complex and time-consuming procedure.
