摘要
Embedded generators (EG) are small-sized generators connected to distribution systems. They compensate the system, improving the quality of power delivered to the loads. Embedded generator technology could be renewable energy (solar energy, small and micro-hydro, wind energy, and biomass) or non-renewable energy (fuel cells, micro-turbines, natural gas generators, and combustion turbines). This study presents a novel algorithm for optimising the sizes and locations of EG integrated into a 33 kV 27-bus distribution system. The optimisation method minimises overall active system losses and enhances the voltage profile. Voltage sensitivity and headroom capacity are two criteria for finding the EG' optimal size and locations. The result gives 29% active loss reduction and enhanced voltage profile. Also, the headroom capacity criterion narrows the search for optimal locations resulting in reduced computational and iteration time. Embedded generator optimal sizes and locations are calculated to be at bus 3 (1.97 MW), bus 6 (1.68 MW), bus 7 (8.73 MW) and bus 26 (8.99 MW). © 2023 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.
