The availability of rain water trees is abundance in most of the parts of the country and globally as well. In the current study, consideration has been given to the extraction of non -edible oil from the family of rain water tree seeds which includes Delonix regia, Samanea saman etc. using different extraction processes. The scientific and engineering aspects such as various extraction processes, their merits and demerits, the extraction process conditions, the obtained yield of oil etc. are also explored in the present study. After an intensive literature, it was observed that the extracted oil has wide range of applications in various fields such as bio lubricants, biodiesel, bio-pesticides, bio-fertilizers, paints; and in production of shampoos, soaps and detergents etc. The products obtained from the rain tree seeds are renewable, bio-degradable, non-toxic. Therefore, this approach is considered to be eco-friendly and cost-effective (sustainable management approach).
