The thermal stability and mode of decomposition of eleven 2-hydroxyaryloxime chelates with the transition metals Cu(II), Ni(II), and Pd(II) have been studied in air atmosphere using the TG/DTA technique. In the case of copper chelates, their thermal behaviour was also studied in nitrogen atmosphere by TG/DTG. A kinetic analysis of the TG data was performed using the Coats-Redfern method to determine the apparent activation energies and the pre-exponential factor of the Arrhenius equation. Mass spectrometry was also used and possible fragmentation patterns are given and discussed.
