C14H9N3S, M(r) = 251.3, monoclinic, P2(1)/c, a = 7.698 (1), b = 18.436 (4), c = 8.360 (2) angstrom, beta = 107.09 (1)degrees, V = 1134.1 (8) angstrom 3, Z = 4, D(x) = 1.472 Mg m-3, mu = 0.25 mm-1, lambda(Mo K-alpha) = 0.7107 angstrom, F(000) = 520, T = 293 (1) K, R = 0.035 for 1491 independent observed reflections. The molecule is approximately planar. All bonds of the non-benzenic B and C rings have at least a partial pi character. The molecules are linked to each other by a weak N-H...N hydrogen bond [3.225 (2) angstrom, 153 (2)degrees] and form infinite chains parallel to the a axis. The structure can also be regarded as constituted of layers of molecules which spread out along the y = 0 and y = 1/2 planes.
